IPL: Arshdeep Singh races past 150 T20 wickets with four-fer
Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh delivered a stunning spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 23 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) in Chandigarh. The left-arm fast bowler was brilliant across all phases as he claimed 4/29 in four overs. With his first wicket, Arshdeep also completed 150 wickets in the 20-over format. A brilliant spell from Arshdeep
Arshdeep drew the first blood by dismissing the dashing Travis Head (21) in the third over. He sent back Aiden Markram (0) a couple of deliveries later. Arshdeep also starred in the death overs as he dismissed the well-set Nitish Reddy (64) and Abdul Samad (25) in the 17th over. This certainly made a significant difference in SRH's final total.
150 wickets in T20 cricket
Arshdeep has raced to 153 wickets across 123 games at an economy of 8.41 (4W: 4, 5W: 1). 65 of his scalps have come in 56 IPL games (all for PBKS) with his economy being 8.73 (4W: 2, 5W: 1). Against SRH, he has completed 12 wickets across nine matches (ER: 7.44). In the ongoing season, Arshdeep now owns eight wickets across five matches.
SRH post a strong total
Riding on Reddy's fiery 64, SRH posted a substantial 182/9 in their allotted 20 overs. They were reeling at 64/4 at one stage. Besides Reddy, Samad (25) and Travis Head (21) were the only ones to score over 20. Shahbaz Ahmed made a crucial seven-ball 14*. While Arshdeep was the star bowler, Sam Curran and Harshal Patel took two wickets apiece.
