Arrest warrant issued against Mohammed Shami: Details here
What's the story
Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is once again at the center of controversy after an arrest warrant was issued against him.
The warrant has been issued in relation to allegations of domestic violence against his wife Hasin Jahan.
Shami is currently in the Caribbean, playing the ongoing second and final Test against the Windies, which India are on the verge of winning.
Domestic violence
Shami accused of domestic violence by his wife in 2018
It was back in 2018 when Shami was accused of domestic violence by his wife Hasin, as he and his brother were booked under IPC Section 498A.
Following it, he was asked to appear before the court for further trial, but he has not done so to date.
As a result, ACJM has given the order to issue an arrest warrant against him.
Determined Shami
Shami determined to focus only on cricket
While the allegations did taint his name, Shami continued his focus on cricket as he didn't allow the allegations to affect his career in any manner.
"I hope everything remains fine. Whatever is the outcome, I am ready to face it. Cricket remains everything in life. That is the only thing I am bothered about," Shami had then quoted to India Today.
Frustrated Hasin
Hasin had accused police of harassing her
Meanwhile, talking to the media on August 29, Hasin revealed that it has been a tough year so far since the long duration of this case has made things difficult for her.
She also accused the police of harassing her.
It is also to be noted that she was taken into custody in UP in April 2019 for creating a ruckus outside Shami's house.
Do you know?
Shami has 15 days to surrender
Now, as police have issued an arrest warrant against the pacer, it is being reported that Shami now has 15 days to surrender to the police and apply for bail. Failing to do so would attract further legal punishment and complications.
Current scenario
Shami and India on verge of Windies Test series win
As of now, India are perfectly placed in the ongoing second Test against the Windies.
India are only eight wickets away of a 2-0 clean sweep as both Shami and India would look to wrap things up on Monday.
Following the conclusion of the Test, India would then fly back home, where Shami awaits his legal trial.
