In early January, GMR Group representatives visited Sydney and met the Cricket New South Wales (CNSW) officials.
This meeting has sparked speculation about the group's possible involvement in the BBL.
However, PKSV Sagar, the president of GMR Sports Ventures Pvt Ltd, had clarified that their trip was just a casual visit and not necessarily a precursor to any future investments in Australian cricket.

Sagar clarifies purpose of Sydney visit
Sagar explained the purpose of their Sydney visit to Cricbuzz, adding that they were there to watch the fifth and final Australia-India Test at the SCG.
He further added that they were introduced to various individuals during the match and took a tour of the facilities at NSW officials' suggestion.
However, he emphasized that any other discussions are premature at this stage.
Global presence
GMR Group's global cricket investments and future plans
The GMR Group has a strong footprint in global cricket, having invested in UAE's ILT20 (Dubai Capitals), South Africa's SA20 (Pretoria Capitals), USA's Major League Cricket (Seattle Orcas), and India's IPL and WPL (Delhi Capitals and Delhi Capitals Women).
However, despite this wide portfolio, Sagar said any assumptions about their future in Australian cricket are speculative.
He reiterated the group's vision of promoting cricket outside India and said they are open to exploring opportunities as they arise.
