2019 IPL auction: Whom will CSK buy in December?
Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Chennai Super Kings have the most settled unit among eight franchises, going into the December 18 auction. CSK retained almost everyone in the IPL trade window and have a simple strategy as they don't want to disrupt their side. Only three fringe players were released by the IPL 2018 winners. Will they add anyone for IPL 2019?
How is CSK's batting line-up looking?
CSK have gone in with the experienced batting line-up which performed for them, last season. From Shane Watson, Suresh Raina to the likes of Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni, the southern IPL side have several match-winners. Further, CSK will be bolstered by the presence of Kedar Jadhav, who missed the campaign last season due to an injury.
Will CSK acquire any batsman?
Other franchises need some addition in batting to strengthen their squad, but not CSK. They have every base covered here from openers to finishers in the lower middle order. The team's versatile players would provide the cushion, in case of a batting collapse.
CSK don't need to bolster all-round base
CSK have a talented pool of all-rounders, which means the faces that delivered last term, will join hands in 2019 edition as well. Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja and Shane Watson are players that would delight any skipper. Add Jadhav to it and the team gets stronger. Utility players like Raina add more dynamism.
CSK's bowling is well balanced
The bowling of CSK looks strong and composed. Mitchell Santner was ruled out of IPL 2018 and this time around, he could play a defining role. Harbhajan Singh, Karn Sharma and Imran Tahir are true spin kings. The fast bowling unit too is well balanced. Therefore, it is likely that CSK will be satisfied from what they already have.
CSK can add Mohit Sharma as cover
CSK have a couple of available slots. Therefore, expect them to have a quiet day. Although, one player which CSK can target is Mohit Sharma. He has earlier played for the side and is a valuable pacer, who can chip in when called.
