Chandela breaks previous world record of 252.4
Chandela's feat saw her break the previous record of 252.4 set by China's Zhao Ruozhu last year. Zhao finished second on Saturday with 251.8 points in her bag. Xu Hong settled for the bronze medal with 230.4 points. Chandela started off slowly, but regained composure as things progressed. The promising shooter eventually claimed the gold with a shot of 10.5.
Chandela had secured a quota for the 2020 Olympics
Chandela had already secured a quota for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics during last year's World Championships. Meanwhile, Zhao and Hong secured their spots for next year's Olympics. Meanwhile, Indian shooters Anjum Moudgil and Elavenil Valarivan finished 12th (628) and 30th (625.3) respectively.

She had a terrific 2018 where she won a silver in the World Championships in the 10m air rifle team event. She also won the bronze medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Early life and background
Chandela was born on January 4, 1993 in Jaipur. Her father is a hotelier. She did her schooling from Mayo Girls College and went on to pursue Sociology Honors from Jesus and Mary College (Delhi University).
