#GamingBytes: Confirmed! Apex Legends Season 2 will begin next month
EA's pre-E3 2019 event had an interesting announcement from Respawn. The company announced that the second season of popular Battle Royale title, Apex Legends will release next month. It will bring with it a new legend, a new weapon, and a host of items including new skins and more. The season is dubbed 'Battle Charge' and here's all you need to know about it.
There's a new legend in town; her name is Wattson
Apex Legends' tenth playable character is Natalie Paquette, better known as Wattson. She'll make her debut in the second season that starts from July 2. She helped create the Apex arena with her father and her trailer introduces her as a brilliant engineer and scientific genius. As far as powers are concerned, Wattson can use defensive electrical barriers to protect against incoming fire.
The game will borrow a new weapon from 'Titanfall 2'
Season two will also bring a new LMG called the L-Star to the game. The gold-tier gun (with insane damage) is one of the best guns in Titanfall 2 and will be found in care packages. Notably, its ammo can't be scavenged. Mozambique, a gun that's pretty much disliked by everyone is all set to get more powerful in the new season.
New challenge-based gameplay and a ranked mode
Apex Legends will now have daily and weekly challenges that will stack, akin to Fortnite. Badges and stat trackers will be done away with and new 'content categories' will be introduced. A ranked mode is also in the works. It will have six tiers from Bronze to Apex Predator and will help players get special bonuses based on their end-of-season tier.
A monstrous entity and new skins
Respawn teased a dragon-like monster at the end of the event. The creatures can be seen outside the arena in recent games. While their reason to exist is currently unknown (maybe they'll invade Kings Canyon), we can be sure that the game will introduce something exciting very soon. Next season will also introduce four new Legendary skins for Caustic, Octane, Spitfire, and R-301.
