Anthony Martial to renew contract with Manchester United
Reports suggest that French forward, Anthony Martial will be signing a new contract with Manchester United. Notably, his relationship with club manager Jose Mourinho has also improved. He was crucial in United's comeback victory against Newcastle and also scored two goals in their match against Chelsea. Martial is likely to see an increase in his weekly wages as well.
Martial was unhappy with the playing time he was getting
After the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in 2018, the French forward was not getting ample game time. He was, reportedly, unhappy with this and wanted to look for greener pastures, as his agent had reported, "After thinking about all the possibilities and settings, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United." However, with his new contract in progress, the Frenchman seems to have reconsidered his decision.
Martial can bring the attacking flair to United
Mourinho prefers a strong right-winger who can create chances during counterattacks, and he wanted Sanchez to be his man. However, the Chilean forward has not lived up to the mark and Mourinho must have finally realized that Martial is the one he was looking for, all this while. With the pace, skills and shooting ability Martial has, he can truly shine at United.
Martial's comments on his relationship with Mourinho
After the Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge, Martial had commented, "Come on - things were not tense between us, to begin with! We have a player-coach relationship and I hope that we will continue like that and bring Manchester United as much as possible."
