Ticket prices for India-England Test at Lord's hiked
The Marylebone Cricket Club, the owner of Lord's, has announced a hike in ticket prices for the Test match between England and India scheduled for next summer. This decision comes despite lukewarm fan response to the recent England-Sri Lanka game. The MCC had previously faced criticism over high ticket costs for this summer's Test series. The five-match series between India and England will begin on June 20, with the third match scheduled at Lord's from July 10.
New ticket prices for Lord's Test
The most affordable tickets for the Lord's Test, offering limited views, are now priced at £90 each. For unrestricted views, fans will have to pay between £120-175. This is a significant increase from last month's Test against Sri Lanka where tickets with restricted views ranged from £115 to 140. The match concluded on Day 4 with only 9,000 spectators in attendance, filling just one third of the stadium capacity.
Home series against India
England's Test series against India is deemed the second-biggest rivalry in the UK after the Ashes involving Australia. This anticipation may have influenced the MCC's decision to raise ticket prices. After the Sri Lanka Test, England's stand-in captain Ollie Pope highlighted the low crowd turnout, stating "It was just like 'jeez, it seems quiet today.'" Pope added that he wasn't sure if people expected the game to be done by Day 4 or not.
