Murray withdraws from Wimbledon warm up tournament
"I am not quite ready to return. I am still aiming to play in the coming weeks, but I want to be 100% when I do return...I won't be ready to play in Hertogenbosch. I was excited to play there," Murray said.
Murray has been out of action since last Wimbledon
The two time Wimbledon champion has now cast doubts over his participation in this year's Wimbledon, which starts on July 2. However, Murray hopes to get fit in time and get some action at the Queen's in London ,which takes place from June 18 to 24. If fit, he could even play the Antalya Open in Turkey, a week before the 2018 Wimbledon.
Murray hopes to make a comeback before Wimbledon
"I've been out close to a year now, which is a lot longer than me or any of my team expected, but I'm getting closer to playing again. I've started training and I am hoping to make my comeback during the grass-court season." Murray concluded.
Will Murray get fit in time for the Wimbledon?
Murray attempted a comeback at the Australian Open in January but struggled with the hip problem. He then returned to the court in late March but his hip problem flared up again. Murray might have made a wise decision not to play until he his 100% fit, but will he make it in time for the Wimbledon is something that remains to be seen.
