West Indies recall Andre Russell for Bangladesh ODIs
West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell has been recalled into the ODI squad for the three-match series against Bangladesh. The series is scheduled to kick-off from Sunday in Guyana. Russell last played an ODI in 2015
Andre Russell has played just one ODI since the 2015 World Cup against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Unfortunately, he had suffered a leg injury in that game. Post that, he was suspended from January 2017 to 2018 for violating the World Anti-Doping Agency's guidelines. He was charged with failure to file his whereabouts three times a year, which amounts to a failed dope test.
Carlos Brathwaite and Marlon Samuels dropped
Apart from Andre Russell, Kieran Powell, Chris Gayle and Alzarri Joseph have also been drafted in the 13-member squad. However, the big names like Carlos Brathwaite, Marlon Samuels, Nikita Miller, Sheldon Cottrell and Kesrick Williams have been left out of the squad. Notably all of them were a part of the World Cup Qualifiers campaign for the West Indies.
