Sports infrastructure to be built in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Government has said that they are planning to build sports infrastructure across the state to encourage youngsters to join sports. Minister for Sports Kollu Ravindra said that both indoor and outdoor stadiums will be built in the state to meet the requirements of every region. He was speaking at the logo launch function of 5th South Zone Sepak Takraw Championship.
Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati declared future sport cities
Kollu Ravindra also said that Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati have been identified as sports cities and more focus will be given on the development of sports infrastructure in these areas. He said that 400 acres of area have been allotted in Amaravati to develop the required infrastructure and a MoU will soon be signed with Vizag Steel Plant.
Vijayawada stadiums to be renovated
As per the government's plans, indoor and outdoor stadiums in Vijayawada will be given a new look and the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation have started working on the same.
10 new sports academies to start from 15th August
The state government will launch ten new sports academies in various cities in the state from 15th August. Among the 10, four will be water sports academies. The academies will have 80 expert for teaching the students, and a fund of Rs 20 crore per year has been allocated by N Chandrababu Naidu's government for the maintenance of these academies.
An international sports centre in Vizag?
The government, which had earlier planned an international level sports centre in Visakhapatnam, said the construction of the centre will be competed in 2018. The multi-sports complex is being built on 79 acres of area and would accommodate 32 sports events.
