Unbreakable records in football
It is said that the records are meant to be broken. However, there are certain records which stay longer than usual and sometimes even get immortalized. Let us have a look at some of such records in the history of football, which were made by the legends of the game and are impossible to be broken in near future.
Highest scoring goalkeeper
Brazilian goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni has 131 goals to his name in a career of about 25-years. His goals came in the form of penalties and free-kicks and is more than 60 goals ahead than the second most goal rich keeper. He played for Sao Paulo all his life, winning 20 major titles and also represented Brazil in two World Cups in 2002 and 2006.
Consecutive five European Cup wins
While it is hard for any club to defend their title nowadays, Real Madrid is the only club to win the European Cup five times in a row from 1956 to 1960. Real Madrid is also a 12 time winner of the Champions League, five more than A.C. Milan. However, even after 55 years no one has even come close to breaking this record.
Most goals in a match
Australia's Archie Thompson scored 13 out of the 31 team goals in the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification match against American Samoa to set the record of the most number of individual goals in a single match.
Highest scoring football match
As a protest against a decision in their previous match, Madagascar club Stade Olympique L'Emyrne went on to score 149 own goals, with the other team AS Adema eventually winning the match 149-0. On 31 October 2002, L'Emyrne players passed the ball back into their goals, and went on do the same for consecutive 149 times, without giving possession to the opposite team.
Fastest hat-trick and fastest red-card
Sheffield footballer Alex Torr scored three goals in just 70 seconds, beating Tommy Ross's record of hat-trick in 90 seconds. In the year 2000, Cross Farm Park Celtic striker Lee Todd was sent off the field with just two seconds into the game for using foul language and it remains the fastest red-card given in a football game.
Participation in FIFA World Cups
The Brazilian national team has appeared in 20 FIFA World Cups, just ahead of Italy and Germany's 18 time appearance. However, with there being no chance of Brazil not making it to the future World Cups, it would be hard to overtake them.
Most international goals
Iran's Ali Daei is way ahead than any other player in the world when it comes to scoring international goals. In his 13-year long career, Ali has scored 109 goals from his 149 appearances for Iran. No current player has managed to come near to this record, with Cristiano Ronaldo being closest with 75 goals to his name.
Highest attendance for a football match
The 1950 World Cup final match between Brazil and Uruguay is remembered for its record number of people watching the match. While only 173,850 official tickets were sold, it is reported that more than 200,000 people were present in Brazil's Maracana stadium.
