A look at all-time records of the English Premier League
The English Premier League (EPL) is one of the most popular and watched football leagues in the world. It is the top tier of English football and was started since the 1992-93 season. Since then, 27 seasons have passed and the tournament has seen a number of records being scripted. On the same note, we take a look at the all-time EPL records.
Manchester United: The leaders of the Premier League
Starting with the big record itself, the most successful team in the tournament. And, the only name that would come to one's mind is The Red Devils, Manchester United. While the club has won 20 titles in the top-tier, they have managed to win 13 Premier League titles to date. They have also won the title on three consecutive occasions, twice.
83,222 fans script record EPL attendance
Playing in front of a capacity crowd always enlightens the playing teams, especially the home team. The record for the highest EPL attendance to date is 83,222 that came in February 2018, during a match between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, which the former won 1-0. Notably, the match was played at the Wembley, since their new home ground, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, was under construction.
Gareth Barry: The most reliable man in the EPL
Playing consistently for a side in a tournament reflects the great commitment and loyalty for a player. The record for most appearances in the EPL stands with former England international Gareth Barry. Barry to date has played for four English clubs and has a record appearance of 653 matches until February 2018. Among the current players, Liverpool's James Milner is next, with 517 appearances.
Alan Shearer: EPL's man with the golden feet
Scoring goals regularly is the most important element and the record for EPL's most goal-scorer lies with former England international Alan Shearer. Having played in the Premier League for 14 seasons, Shearer has scored 260 goals in the tournament, playing for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United. Among the current players, Manchester City's Sergio Agüero is next with 165 goals.
Sir Alex Ferguson: Mr. Manager of the EPL
A great manager has a great role in taking a club to its pinnacle, and Sir Alex Ferguson is a no-brainer when it comes to the most successful EPL manager. Having won 13 EPL titles with Manchester United, no other manager is even close to replicating his feat. He has also won a record 27 Premier League Manager of the Month awards.
