Miami Open: Women's world number 1 Halep survives scare
Simona Halep overcame a scare to progress into the third round of the Miami Open. The Romanian world number 1 saw off the challenge of Oceane Dodin of France in a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 victory. Halep received treatment on her neck twice during the match and eventually rallied to win in two hours and seven minutes. She will face Polish Agnieszka Radwanska next.
Other big guns progress safely
German 10th seed and former world number 1 Angelique Kerber breezed past Sweden's Johanna Larsson 6-2, 6-2. Czech Republic's in-form Karolina Pliskova too made a swift progression after overcoming a tricky challenge against Russia's Ekaterina Makarova 7-5, 7-5. 14th seed Madison Keys, who retired hurt against Victoria Azarenka, bowed out in a 6-7, 0-2 affair. 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens too progressed.
Women's singles fixtures and schedule
Fourth seed Elina Svitolina faces Indian Wells winner Naomi Osaka in a crunch battle on Friday at 8:30 PM. Ninth seed Petra Kvitova is also in action at 9:50 PM. Elena Vesnina and Johanna Konta too are involved on an action-packed Friday.
India's Yuki Bhambri wins 1st round tussle
India's Yuki Bhambri's recent good run continued as he won his first round encounter against Mirza Basic. The men's singles talented player won the duel in an hour and 30 minutes after a 7-5, 6-3 victory. He will next face world number 11 Jack Sock in the 2nd round. After losing in the third round at Indian Wells, Yuki will look to stun Sock.

Seventh seed David Goffin will face Joao Sousa at 8:30 PM on Friday. The seeded trio of Milos Raonic, Richard Gasquet and R Bautista Agut are all in action. Late night ties would see big guns Djokovic, Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori battling it out.
