The Indian cricket team beat Bangladesh in the third and final T20I to seal the three-match series 2-1. After being asked to bat, India scored 174/5. How did the match pan out?
India lost Rohit Sharma (2) early on and were pegged back. Shikhar Dhawan (19) looked positive before perishing. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer added 59 runs for the third wicket. After Iyer's dismissal, Manish Pandey (22*) helped India get past 170. In reply, Bangladesh lost two quick wickets. However, Mohammad Naim (81) impressed and scored freely. But it wasn't enough in the end.
Iyer smashes maiden T20I fifty, Dhawan gets past 1,500 runs
Iyer scored a 33-ball 62 that included three fours and five sixes. This was his maiden career T20I half-century in his 11th match. Dhawan has surpassed 1,500 T20I runs (1,504) and became the fifth Indian to do so. KL Rahul (52) slammed his sixth career T20I fifty. He now has 974 runs in T20Is and needs 26 more to reach the mark of 1,000.
Al-Amin gets past star pacers, Soumya scripts unwanted record
Al-Amin Hossain (1/22) raced to 40 career T20I scalps. He went past the likes of Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult (39 each). Soumya Sarkar registered a first-ball duck. This was his eighth career T20I duck in 46 matches.
Naim and Mithun notch Bangladesh's best T20I stand against India
Naim registered his maiden career T20I fifty. His score is now the highest by a Bangladeshi batsman against India in T20Is. He shared a 98-run stand alongside Mohammad Mithun (27) for the third wicket. Their partnership is now the highest for the third wicket between the two sides. It is also Bangladesh's highest T20I partnership for any wicket against India.
India win maiden T20I series at home in 2019
This was the 11th T20I match between the two sides and India registered their 10th victory against the Tigers. India won their maiden T20I series this year on home soil and a second overall. They won their third T20I at home in 2019 out of seven games. Shivam Dube (3/30) claimed his maiden T20I wickets in his third match.
Chahal joins Ashwin and Bumrah with this tally, Chahar impresses
Yuzvendra Chahal (1/43) registered 50 career T20I wickets. He became only the third Indian bowler to claim 50-plus wickets in T20Is after R Ashwin (52) and Jasprit Bumrah (51). Meanwhile, pacer Deepak Chahar registered his best bowling figures in T20Is. He also claimed a hat-trick.
