Morgan surpasses 7,000 ODI runs, Roy slams fourth successive fifty
Jason Roy (54) slammed his fourth consecutive fifty-plus score in ODIs. This was Roy's 15th career ODI fifty and a third in 2019. He also went past 450 ODI runs in 2019 (456). Eoin Morgan amassed his fifth ODI fifty in 2019. He now has 46 career ODI fifties. The England skipper went past 7,000 runs in ODIs (7,034). He surpassed Graeme Smith (6,989).
Root and Stokes shine with the bat
Joe Root (51) smashed his second fifty this year. The classy batsman went past the 400-run mark in 2019. Root amassed his 31st ODI fifty and shared 106-run stand with Roy for the second wicket. Ben Stokes continued his good form for England. This was his third fifty this year and also his highest score. He now has 16 career ODI fifties.
England script a host of records
This was England's ninth score of 300-plus at the Oval in ODI cricket. The score was also their highest against SA at this venue. Their previous best was 296/7 in 2008. This was the seventh meeting between the two sides in the World Cup. England now have a 4-3 advantage. The Three Lions also pocketed their 27th win against SA in ODIs.

Jofra Archer (3/27) registered his best bowling figures in ODI cricket for England. Quinton de Kock surpassed the 500-run mark in ODIs this year (537). De Kock (68) slammed his fifth fifty in 2019. This was his 22nd career ODI fifty as well. Kagiso Rabada (2/66) now has 108 career ODI scalps. He surpassed former South African Andre Nel (106).
How did the match pan out?
South Africa got off to a perfect start by sending Jonny Bairstow back in the first over. Roy and Root batted well to share a partnership. SA hit back, before Morgan and Stokes added another big stand. Stokes helped England get past 300. In reply, SA never stayed in the hunt and lost wickets at regular intervals. England bowlers produced quality and substance.
