Records David Warner could script in IPL 2019
David Warner has been one of the stalwarts in the Indian Premier League over the years. He missed the IPL 11 season after the BCCI followed the sanctions imposed by Cricket Australia and banned him for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal against South Africa last year. Warner, whose ban is set to end on March 29, can script these records in IPL 2019.
Warner won't be available for entire IPL 12
Warner is set to feature in the upcoming season but only for a limited period. He is likely to be a part of the World Cup squad, which will see him depart in April end. World Cup-bound Aussies will not feature from May 1 onwards.
What was Warner up to in last 12 months?
Over the last 12 months, Warner featured in the Global T20 League in Canada. He scored 108 runs in eight matches. He bettered his show in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Warner managed 223 runs in seven matches for Sylhet Sixers. He faced an elbow injury during the BPL which forced him to leave the tourney midway. Warner also played grade cricket in Australia.
Warner could go past Gambhir in terms of IPL runs
Warner has scored 4,014 runs in the IPL at an average of 40.54 and a strike-rate of 142.13. He has won two Orange Caps and led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the title in 2016. The Australian cricketer needs 204 runs to get past Gautam Gambhir (4,217). SRH will be hoping that he makes an impact till the time he is available to them this season.
Warner could better these records
Warner has amassed three hundreds in the IPL. He could close down the gap on Chris Gayle (6). India skipper, Virat Kohli (4) is above him as well. Warner has the joint-highest number of fifties (36). He could better the record this season.
Warner won't get much time to settle in: Our take
Warner will add a lot of depth in this SRH squad. He has been a consistent force and the Orange Army needs to derive the maximum out of him for whatever time he features. The southpaw is likely to play the remaining ODIs against Pakistan after his ban ends and then come to the IPL. He won't get much time to settle in.
