#GamingBytes: Games to watch out for in The Game Awards
The Game Awards is the annual ceremony, honoring achievements within the video games industry. During the course of the ceremony, new games and content are also announced along with in-depth look at formerly announced games. Produced and hosted by Geoff Keighley, the Canadian games journalist, the award ceremony is currently in its fifth year and has announced nominees for this year's edition.
Where to watch The Game Awards?
The Game Awards 2018 will be aired on December 7 from 7:30 AM IST. The award show can be viewed on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Twitter, Steam TV, Mixer, Xbox Live and PlayStation 4.
The favorites in this award show
Among the numerous games nominated, God of War by Sony Santa Monica and Red Dead Redemption 2 by Rockstar Games are the clear favorites, each having won 8 nominations. The former is playable only on PS4, the latter on PS4 and Xbox One. Though both games received excellent reviews, some gamers might be slightly disappointed as this year's front-runners are not available on PC.
Best game of the year category
Gamers will look eagerly to the best game of the year category. Apart from God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2, the nominees are Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man, Capcom's Monster Hunter: World and Matt Makes Games' Celeste. Notably, the last entry is an independent game. This probably signals a positive turn, with the mainstream gaming industry recognizing an independent game.
Other notable games to watch out for
Other notable games are Epic's Fortnite, nominated for the best ongoing, eSports, multi-player, and mobile game categories. Competitor PUBG only got nominated to the mobile category. FIFA 19, Forza Horizon 4, were included in the Sports game category. Black Ops 4 was nominated for best multi-player while Far Cry 5, Shadow of the Tomb Raider were nominated for action and action/adventure, respectively.
