#GamingBytes: Details about PUBG's snow map leaked
PUBG, the popular tactical Battle Royale, was rumored to be getting a new map in the game, called Dihor Otok. The map was supposed to take the gameplay experience in a new direction by situating it in a snowy terrain. Now, new information has resurfaced on Reddit, courtesy allthennewsisgoodnews, that details some leaked footage of the map. Read about the new map here.
What do we see in the footage?
The snow map, Dihor Otok, is alternately known as Vikendi. It was mapped with a camera flying from one end of the map to another. The camera surveyed landmarks reconstructed using the datamined assets from the map's first leak on September 9. Though the reconstruction is unlikely to reflect the map's final form, gamers can get a sense of the layout and appearance.
Taking a look at the areas of interest
The northern end of the map shows us the 'Cosmodrome', which is an abandoned space station with a centrally situated rocket. The camera then moves south along a frozen river and gives gamers a glimpse of a moated castle with underground cellars and towers, which can be accessed. We also see a frozen lake, a factory area and several towns along the island's coasts.
How the snow changes the game
The Reddit dataminer confirmed that the footsteps that had appeared in the map's original teaser are likely to make it to the final game. Notably, the snow is expected to behave in a manner similar to fog in other PUBG maps. It will appear and disappear dynamically. As per PUBG Corp's original announcement, the new map is expected to arrive this winter.
