Team news and selection
Sweden right-back Mikael Lustig is suspended for the tie and is set to be replaced by Emil Krafth. However, Sweden get a shot in the arm by the return of mid-fielder Sebastian Larsson. For England, Jamie Vardy is doubtful after he suffered a groin injury against Colombia. Mid-fielder Dele Alli will have a late fitness test, whereas, Ashley Young and Kyle Walker have recovered.
Harry Kane will be vital tonight
All eyes will be on Harry Kane as the England skipper is in a different dimension, this term, and has already scored six goals. He is in the driver's seat to bag the Golden Boot and would be a cause of concern for Sweden's manager. Kane will be raring to rally his side and make pivotal inroads against a determined and strong Swedish defense.
View from both camps
England manager Gareth Southgate stated that his side may not get this sort of an opportunity again. He added that he is proud the way his boys are playing at the moment. Sweden coach Janne Andersson has stated that it is wonderful to face England, which has been his second home. He added that England still have the heart and spirit.
Can England break Swedish defense?
England's task will be to open up the defense of Sweden, as they have stood like a rock, till now. Sweden are likely to sit deep and hit on the counter. It is important for England to make the most of their chances and minimize the threats from counter-attacks. England impressed against Colombia, but know they have a bigger test to pass against Sweden.
Stat attack: Sweden vs England
This is the third meeting between these two sides in a World Cup. Last two games, between, them ended even. England have beaten Sweden only once in a competitive fixture (Euro 2012).
