FIFA World Cup 2018: Brazil vs Belgium- Match Preview
Two powerhouses, Brazil and Belgium, will battle for a spot in the last four when they face each other, tomorrow, at the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2018. Brazil have peaked at the right time and are a dangerous entity when it comes to big games. Belgium won't be pushovers as they exhibited their fighting spirit against Japan. Here is the pre-match report.
Team news and selection
Marcelo and Douglas Costa are back in training for Brazil and will be looking to play some part in the match against Belgium. Mid-fielder Casemiro is suspended and is set to be replaced by Manchester City veteran Fernandinho. It will be interesting to see whether right-back Fagner continues or Danilo gets a spot. For Belgium, the XI, which played against Japan, is expected.
Brazil present a big challenge for Belgium
Brazil go into the tie as favorites and could pose a lot of threat, given Belgium have a vulnerable defense. The likes of Philippe Coutinho, alongside Willian and Neymar, could be the difference between these two sides. The likes of Paulinho and Fernandinho provide steel in mid-field. Brazil have conceded just one goal so far and they will, once again, look for a clean-sheet.
Belgium's attack looks promising
Belgium have a plethora of options in attack and the presence of Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens would be the key for the side. All eyes will be on Hazard and Lukaku as they are expected to make a mark in the attack. Brazil will also be wary of mid-fielder Kevin De Bruyne, who is the source of the link-up play.
Views from both camps
Brazil winger Willian praised Neymar and stated that everybody knows how important he is and the level he is at. He said the team is looking to evolve, improve and go all the way. Belgium coach Roberto Martinez said, what his players do with the ball is important, rather than just having possession. He also added that Brazil go in as favorites.
