Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have eleven maps
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is one of the most awaited games of 2018. Interestingly, the anticipation is for the Battle Royale mode, Blackout. But its experimental features should not divert attention from the main game. This is why, the news that Black Ops 4 will only have eleven multi-player maps, as against the standard 15 plus maps, has surprised gamers.
What maps will gamers get in Black Ops 4?
As with all the Call of Duty titles, especially where Treyarch is involved, fan expectations are high. The news of eleven multi-player maps was not well received by loyalists. Further, four of the eleven are remakes of old maps like Summit, Jungle, Slums and Firing Range. This gives players only seven new maps, as the post-launch Nuketown is a remake of a fan-favorite.
New maps on Black Ops 4
The new maps on Black Ops 4 will include- Arsenal, Contraband, Gridlock, Frequency, Seas Side, Hacienda and Payload. Notably, Treyarch might introduce newer maps, post launch, but gamers need to subscribe to the Black Ops pass in order to access them.
In defense of the developers
Gamers might not like to hear this, but Treyarch has a good reason for reducing the number of maps in-game. With Call of Duty's ever-increasing focus on multi-player modes, it is imperative it pigeonholes gamers to same servers. This makes matching with other players a lot easier. Nothing is more irritating than waiting in the lobby for players to join a game.
All eclipsing popularity of Blackout
With increasing focus on Blackout, it would indeed have been foolish for Treyarch to stretch its multi-player mode thinner by adding more maps. As it stands, more players will opt for Battle Royale over the classic multi-player mode. To top it, if it had more maps, gamers would have an agonizing wait before sufficient players matched on servers for a match to start.
