Indian Cricket Team's schedule in 2018
The last 12 months have been one of the most successful periods in Indian cricket's history. India have won 9 consecutive Test series under the leadership of Virat Kohli and would be looking to make it 10 when they kick off their campaign with the first Test against South Africa in Cape town. Here is how the rest of 2018 looks for India.
South Africa vs India
India will begin the new year with the tour of South Africa with the first Test commencing on the 5th of January. India will play 3 Tests, 6 ODIs and 3 T20Is in the African nation. India have won just 2 of the 17 Tests played in South Africa, a record Kohli and company will look to set straight.
Tri-series: Sri Lanka vs India vs Bangladesh
After the conquest in South Africa, India head back to the subcontinent where they will take on Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in a tri-series. T20I tri-series, called Nidahas Trophy, will commence on March 8th to mark the 70th anniversary of Sri Lankan independence. The three teams with take on each other twice and the top two will contest in the final on March 20th.
England vs India
After some high octane action in the Indian Premier League, Kohli and company head to the United Kingdom where they will take on England starting on the 3rd of July. The men in blue will play a 3 match T20I series followed by 3 ODIs. Five tests will also be played that will go on till September 11th.
Asia Cup
Indian stars will not have any time for rest as the Asia Cup will begin shortly after their tour of England. India will host the event, which is likely to begin from the 15th of September with the final being scheduled on the 30th of the month. Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will compete against India for the trophy.
India vs West Indies
The BCCI is yet to confirm this tour, but according to the ICC's FTP, India will host the men from the Caribbean islands for 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and a lone T20I. Last time, India visited the Caribbean island, they demolished their opposition in their own backyard, will the West Indians now step up to the challenge away from home?
Australia vs India
India's most difficult tour is set to come at the end of the year, when Kohli led India will travel down under to take on the mighty Aussies. India are likely to play at least 4 Test matches. Cricket Australia is yet to confirm the number of matches and also if any limited-overs games will be played.
