Premier League: Liverpool enjoy the best 2018-19 summer transfer window
After looking at all the Premier League clubs, one can say that Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool had the most productive transfer window. They acted wisely and got the crucial players to fill in the vital positions. The squad now has a stellar look to it. Yes, the Reds shelled out a lot of cash, but it could be worth it. Here we decode their deals.
New Reds this season!
Liverpool's mid-field one of the best in EPL
On paper, Liverpool's mid-field looks as good as any of the top sides challenging for the title. They roped in defensive mid-fielder Fabinho from Monaco for £40 million. The Brazilian will add a voice in a three-man mid-field this season. Perhaps the star addition was Naby Keita from Red Bull Leipzig. He arrived in a £52.75 million deal and is strong on the ball.
Liverpool broke the banks for Alisson
Goal-keeping was a problematic position for Liverpool and that was witnessed in their 1-3 hammering against Real in the final of the UEFA Champions League 2017-18. This season Klopp went the distance and bought Alisson Becker from Roma in a staggering £66 million deal. The Brazilian number one is a smart purchase and it will help Liverpool be more composed at the back.
Shaqiri adds the depth in attack
Liverpool have a star-studded attack and Xherdan Shaqiri's addition is of great value. He arrived from Stoke City in a paltry £13.5 million, after his release clause was activated. Shaqiri knows the Premier League well and is a dangerous customer, who adds vitality from wide-off positions. The former Inter Milan and Bayern Munich star will lend support from the bench and is a match-winner.
Our view: What will Liverpool offer?
The key additions mean Liverpool will give champions Manchester City a run for their money as far the Premier League title race is concerned. This is Klopp's best chance to earn silverware with the club. They can win the EPL or could finish second.
