#GamingBytes: Every important question about 'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite' answered

    What's the story

The newly released Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is already making waves in the Harry Potter fandom.

From Wizarding World, WB Games, and Niantic, the AR-based game has the same concept of Pokemon Go but comes with an added charm of the Potter-verse.

While it hasn't released in India as of now, pre-registrations are open.

Here are some important questions about the game, answered.

    Premise

'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite' combines the wizarding world with ours

The wizarding world is going through a 'Calamity' where the Potter-verse is at the risk of exposure.

Since exposure is in violation of the Statute of Secrecy, players need to help the Potter-verse by collecting various magic 'Foundables' (creatures, things, people) scattered in various locations by breaking the "Confoundable Spells" on them.

It all can be done with a few swipes on your smartphone.

    Getting Started

Here's how to get started with the game

Download the game from the app/play store and log in using your social media credentials.

Once logged in, you'll be asked to customize your wizard with various outfits and items.

After that, you put in your name and Gamertag, get your wand and prepare to choose a profession.

You start with limited spell energy, which can be bought with real money or replenished in-game.

    Professions

The game gives you three professions to choose from

You can either be Aurors (high damage), mentored by Harry Potter himself; Magizoologists (low damage), mentored by Hagrid; or Professors (balanced damage), mentored by Minerva McGonagall.

The more you play, the better you become at your profession and move up the skill tree.

Better skills improve your stats and help you defeat strong hostile creatures.

Tip: You can refill spell energy at various 'inns'.

    Features

The game also has Fortresses and Portmanteaus

In order to get some rare Foundables, you need to conquer Fortresses.

If you're powerful, you can try doing it alone but these are better captured in groups comprised of different professionals.

Do note that entering a Fortress sometimes costs Runestones.

Portmanteaus are eggs that let you teleport to various locations using AR and give you rewards.

You need Gold/Silver keys to use Portmanteaus.

    Final Tip

Before you start, here's all about the game's potions

Potions are an important aspect of the game and give you more power and XP on usage.

These can be collected as well as brewed with items that automatically spawn around you.

You can also buy potions with in-game currency as well as real money.

So, there you have it. You are now ready for the India release of the game!
