Riske in a happy zone with wedding on the cards
After her win against world number one Barty, the American player cheekily credited her wedding for the victory. Riske claimed, "I wish I could get married more often. Maybe we'll have to renew our vows because it's worked out well having that on the horizon."
Bring it on! It's super exciting, says Riske
Riske has already beaten three seeded players so far. Prior to the win against Barty, she had overcome Donna Vekic (22nd seed) in the first round and Belinda Bencic (13th seed) in the third round. Now a gruelling test awaits her. "Bring it on! It's super exciting. I have never played against her. It will be an interesting match," she said.
Serena will hope to break free from recent struggles
Meanwhile, Serena reached the quarter-finals after a dominant display against Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro. The 37-year-old enjoyed a 6-2, 6-2 victory against the world number 31. The veteran tennis star will be vying for her maiden Slam since the 2017 Australian Open win. Earlier this year, Serena had an exit from the quarters of Australian Open and third round of the French Open.
