Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma scored a superb 75*-run knock versus Lucknow Super Giants in Match 57 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season on Wednesday. Abhishek and his opening partner Travis Head helped SRH script a record-breaking chase in the IPL. LSG managed 165/4 in 20 overs. Abhishek and Head then posted a stunning 167*-run stand as SRH won in 9.4 overs.

Head smashed Krishnappa Gowtham for a four off the final ball in the first over. Abhishek then took charge with four fours. The third over saw Gowtham get launched by Head for three sixes and a four. The massacre continued as 107 runs came in six overs. Abhishek reached his fifty from 19 balls in the 7th over as SRH walked past LSG.

Abhishek made his presence felt with a 28-ball 75* (4s: 8, 6s: 4). He struck at 267.86. In the IPL 2024 campaign, Abhishek now owns 401 runs at 36.45. His strike rate is 205.64 (50s: 2). Overall, the southpaw has 1,294 IPL runs at 25.88 (SR: 153.13). He registered his 6th fifty. In T20s, he owns 2,588 runs at 30.44 (SR: 152.50).
Highest stand against LSG in IPL history
The unbeaten 167-run stand between Abhishek and Head is SRH's third-highest partnership for any wicket. This is also SRH's second-highest stand for the opening wicket. Meanwhile, this is now the highest stand (any wicket) against LSG in the competition's history, surpassing the 142-run stand shared between Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023.
A unique record for the two openers
Abhishek and Head took 34 balls to being up their 100-run stand versus LSG. It's the second-fewest balls consumed for a 100-run stand. Abhishek and Head took 30 balls before this against DC (IPL 2024). Meanwhile, Head scored his fourth fifty within the powerplay.
