In the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy, he scored a whopping 966 runs and became the second-highest scorer in the tournament to lead Mumbai to their 40th Ranji Trophy. Nayar shares the unwanted record for the longest over in List A cricket with Pakistan’s Mohammad Sami, who holds the same record in ODI cricket. Since the 2009 West Indies tour, Nayar has not played for the Indian senior team. In the IPL, he has played for franchises such as Kings XI Punjab, Pune Warriors India, and Rajasthan Royals.
