IPL 2019: RCB beat KXIP, here are the records broken
Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kings XI Punjab in match number 42 of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This was RCB's fourth win this season as they successfully defended the total of 202 runs. Batting first, a magnificent effort from AB de Villiers (82*) guided the hosts. Even though, KXIP batted well, but they couldn't cross the line. Here are the records broken.
ABD registers a host of feats
ABD (414) and Virat Kohli (400) surpassed 400 run-mark each in IPL 2019. The South African smashed his fifth fifty in IPL 12. This was also his highest score this season. The legend, who smashed seven sixes on the night, has registered 25 maximums in IPL 12. This was ABD's 33rd career IPL fifty. He needs one more to equal Rohit Sharma (34).
ABD surpasses Uthappa and Dhoni in terms of career runs
AB de Villiers has amassed 4,367 career IPL runs. He went past the likes of Robin Uthappa (4,349) and MS Dhoni (4,330). The Proteas legend now has 355 fours in IPL and needs three more to surpass Parthiv Patel (357).
RCB amass 18th score of 200-plus in IPL
This was RCB's 18th total of 200-plus in IPL history. It was also their fifth total of 200-plus against KXIP. Mohammed Shami (1/53) has picked up 14 wickets in IPL 2019. R Ashwin (1/15) has raced to 122 career IPL wickets. ABD and Marcus Stoinis shared an unbeaten century stand (121). This is the highest partnership for the fifth wicket for RCB.
How did the match pan out?
RCB got off to a strong start with Parthiv (43) leading the way. KXIP hit back to reduce the side to 81/4 in the ninth over. ABD and Stoinis stole the show in the final four. In reply, KXIP got off to a flier, but RCB hit back. At the death, Pooran took charge but couldn't win the match for KXIP.
