AB de Villiers plays padel tennis with fellow former cricketers
South Africa's veteran batter, AB de Villiers took to Instagram to share a video of him playing padel tennis with other cricket legends. The video, shot during his visit to India, features former Indian cricketers-turned commentators Zaheer Khan, Robin Uthappa, and Aakash Chopra, as well as the legendary Brett Lee. De Villiers captioned the post as "Throwback to a day of padel with some of my friends when I was in India."
De Villiers expresses his love for padel tennis
De Villiers also expressed his interest in the sport of padel tennis that has gained traction of late. He described padel as "fun and addictive," highlighting the benefits. "I absolutely love it. It's a full-body workout, it improves coordination and reflexes. It's a low-impact sport, reducing the chances of injury, and most importantly, it's fun and addictive," he said about the game.
Padel tennis: A new sports trend among cricketers
As reported earlier, former cricketers have been active on the padel tennis court of late. In December last year, Indian stalwarts Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rishabh Pant were spotted playing the racquet sport in Dubai following the IPL 2024 auction. Padel tennis is played on an enclosed and a slightly smaller court. Specially-designed padel racquets and balls are used to play the sport.
