Aakash Chopra criticizes Pakistan's performance in 2025 Champions Trophy
What's the story
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has expressed his disappointment over Pakistan's performance in the ongoing 2025 Champions Trophy.
He slammed the team for their early exit from the tournament, after losing to New Zealand and India.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that Pakistan cricket is currently at its lowest point and drastic changes are needed for improvement.
Need for change
Chopra suggests drastic changes for Pakistan's cricket team
Chopra stressed the need for radical changes in the Pakistani team.
He cautioned that hoping for different results with the same team would be foolish.
"You can make radical changes and change everything," he suggested, adding that "if you expect different results with that, which means you keep making the same mistakes and expect a different result, that's called foolishness."
Batting critique
Chopra criticizes Pakistan's batting approach, top players
Chopra also slammed Pakistan's batting approach in the 2025 Champions Trophy, especially that of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
He noted that Azam scored a sluggish 64 off 90 balls in a high-scoring chase against New Zealand, while Rizwan consumed 77 balls for his 46 runs against India.
These performances have added to Pakistan's dismal run in the tournament.
Philosophical comparison
Chopra compares India and Pakistan's cricket philosophies
Chopra also compared the philosophies of Indian and Pakistani cricket.
He said while India have recently gone aggressive, Pakistan's response to pressure hasn't been that assertive.
"The country's philosophy is probably your game's philosophy because that's your fabric," he noted.
However, he admitted skill levels between the two nations can't be equated but bravado often trumps skills in white-ball cricket.
