Commonwealth Games manual lists England as a part of Africa
England has accidentally been named as an African nation with a population of two million in the official Gold Coast Commonwealth Games manual. The official guide, which profiles the 71 participating nations and territories, claimed that England is in Africa and its capital is Banjul, not London. The Games organizers termed the mistake as an oversight.
Banjul is the capital of England according to CWG
CWG confused Gambia with England
The 130-page manual of the Commonwealth Games accidentally placed England among the African nations. Banjul is the capital city of Gambia, a tiny African nation besides Senegal which rejoined the Commonwealth in February after leaving in 2013. England is one of the founding members of the Commonwealth and its actual population is about 53 million.
CWG accepts its embarrassing mistake
"There was an overprint. We found out about it maybe 10 days ago. We went and spoke to England and said, 'Congratulations, the Commonwealth's changing and it has since Brexit, and you are now a part of Africa'. Sometimes you make mistakes," an official said.
England 'magic moment' is listed right
However, what is surprising is that the manual correctly listed England's "magical moment" as the "miracle mile" of 1954 when the legendary Roger Bannister beat Australian John Landy in a one-off race. Both the men ran a mile under four minutes, which was the first time ever that two athletes had achieved it in the same race.

England does not want the guides to be reprinted
England officials have accepted the quirky apology and were kind enough to decline the offer from the organizers to tear up and reprint the guides due to the additional costs involved.
