Manchester United shortlist players for January transfer window
The shock League Cup exit has left Manchester United's manager Mourinho a lot to ponder with. The pressure to perform has increased significantly with their neighbours City cruising in the Premier League. Lack of creativity in midfield has been the major concern and reinforcements are needed if United want a trophy this season. Let us look at ManU's potential shortlist for January transfer-window.
Mesut Ozil
One of Mourinho's key signings at Real Madrid, Mesut Ozil is reportedly keen on reuniting with his former manager. The Arsenal number 10 was at his best under Mourinho and with United in the hunt for a magician, Ozil definitely fits the bill. The German has 6 months left on his contract and will be free to talk to other clubs about a transfer.
Christian Pulisic
The wonder kid from Borussia Dortmund, has been in the radar of several European clubs for quite a while now. The 19-year-old winger is quick, agile, creative and has a knack of finding the back of the net. One of the best players to have produced by the USA, Pulisic was their youngest ever player when he made his debut in 2016.
Nadiem Amiri
This highly rated youngster is not a common household name among football fans, but the 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been a central figure in Bundesliga side Hoffenheim's success. He has been compared to the likes of Liverpool's Roberto Firmino. The German Under-21 international will cost Jose Mourinho £20 million as he is currently under contract with the Bundesliga side until June 2020.
Bryan Cristante
Manchester United are keen on making 22-year-old central attacking midfielder Bryan Cristante a red devil after his impressive performances from the centre of the park for Atalanta. Cristante has netted 5 goals in 16 Serie A matches, as well as 3 in six matches in the UEFA Europa League. He is currently on loan from Benfica in Serie A and could cost £31 million.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
22-year-old Lazio midfielder could be a £95 million transfer target for the Red Devils. Mourinho has already sent scouts to watch the highly-rated Serbian. Lazio's winning streak has finally come to an end but that has only helped Milinkovic-Savic's stock rise in the market and come January he could be playing in the Premier League.
Who will be sold by Manchester United?
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of the players definitely packing his bags this winter. The 28-year-old Armenian who was a central figure in Jose Mourinho's plans at the start of the season hasn't featured in a while. He has been absent from key fixtures and hasn't been named on the bench either. Belgian Marouane Fellaini could also be shown the door.
