Nepal's Anjali Chand creates T20I history: Details here
Nepal women's cricket team bowler Anjali Chand scripted history against Maldives in the South Asian Games. She played wrecker-in-chief in Nepal's rout of Maldives in Pokhara. Anjali registered the best bowling figures in a T20I match ever. Her 6/0 broke a plethora of records as Maldives were rooted apart by the Nepal women's team. Here's more.
Anjali decimates Maldives with figures of 6/0
Anjali registered bowling figures of 6 for 0 as Nepal bundled out Maldives for 16 runs. The home team chased down the total in just 0.5 overs to win the match. The medium pacer bowled just 2.1 overs and claimed six wickets. With this effort, Anjali stands out in world cricket. Her wickets came in the seventh, ninth and 11th over.
Anjali betters Mas Elysa's T20I record
Anjali now has the best bowling figures in T20Is. She went past Malaysia's Mas Elysa, who held the previous record of 6/3 in a T20I. Elysa claimed the feat against China Women earlier this year. Anjali also became only the sixth women cricketer to claim a six-for in T20Is. She also became the second Nepali cricketer to script this feat after Nary Thapa's 6/8.
Deepak Chahar holds the record in men's cricket
Notably, Indian pacer Deepak Chahar holds the record for the best bowling figures in men's T20I cricket. The right-arm fast bowler had picked up 6 for 7 in 3.2 overs against Bangladesh in Nagpur. Chahar also picked up a hat-trick in the match against the Tigers. Earlier, Sri Lanka's mystery spinner Ajanta Mendis held the record with figures of 6 for 8.
South Asian Games: Nepal Women get a solid start
Chand's sensational effort has given Nepal Women a solid start to their South Asian Games cricket campaign. Nepal are competing with the likes of Maldives, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the four-team tournament in Pokhara. The top two teams at the end of a round-robin stage will progress to the gold medal match. Meanwhile, the bottom two will play the bronze medal match.
