#GamingBytes: Tips to win Fortnite's Battle Royale
Fortnite, by Epic Games, is one of the most popular online multiplayer games. The Battle Royale format witnesses players facing off each other as they hunt for weapons and resources. However, it is hard to beat everyone in squad or solo and get that Victory Royale. But there is no need to worry, we bring you five tips to improve and become a pro.
Building is the key to victory
Fortnite has an option, where players can use collectible resources like wood, stone, and metal to build structures. Although the first instinct, when shot, might be to return fire, the smart move is to build structures and seek protection. They also provide height advantage and cover to retaliate. While playing in squads, team-mates should provide cover while one builds the structure.
Shield up before you go into battle
The shield potions should be one of the first things, which players collect and use. They provide protection against bullets and ensure you last longer and shoot back. There are big shields and mini-shields. Players are suggested to use the big shields first to boost the protection to a certain level and then fill it completely using mini-shields. Pick shields before guns!
The way you land will determine your survival
When the game starts, players are loaded onto a battle-bus which drops them into the playzone. Both landing time and spot become key in determining survival. Firstly, avoid marked locations. They will be teeming with players. Survival requires immense skill and luck. It is wiser to land in unmarked houses and collect weapons and resources. Players are unlikely to meet enemies at these locations.
Timing is also the key
In Fortnite, gliders allow players to float for a long time before hitting the ground. While jumping too early is not advisable as most players do that leading to immediate skirmishes and deaths. Jumping late means you are landing weapon-less while enemies are already armed.
You are safe in the eye of the tornado
Most players who are new to Fortnite find it difficult to co-ordinate everything. While people grow adept at looting resources and killing enemies, newbies forget to keep an eye on the shrinking storm circle. If the storm circle shrinks and you are outside the playzone it is nearly impossible to survive as the storm cannot be outrun. Loot and kill but always keep moving!
Start the game with a shotgun
Snipers and assault rifles are cool. However, towards the beginning of the game always pick a shotgun. The shotgun is the most effective weapon in Fortnite at close range. Since most encounters at the beginning tend to be in buildings, this should be the weapon of choice. Notably, the shotgun has low accuracy but high damage, so place your shots well!
