MS Dhoni will, undoubtedly, go down in history as India's greatest ever captain. From a ticket collector, he became a trophy collector. Today, he would take the field for the 500th time for India. He would become the third Indian, after Tendulkar and Dravid, to achieve this feat. Here we take a look at five instances, when India fell in love with Dhoni.
When MSD hit the six which won India World Cup
MS Dhoni ended India's 28-year wait for the ODI World Cup in 2011. In the finale against Sri Lanka, India lost early wickets of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. However, Dhoni stood up to the occasion and came in ahead of Yuvraj Singh. He stitched a wonderful partnership with Gambhir. Dhoni scored 91* and finished the game with a six.
When Team India was more important than Ziva
Dhoni's wife, Sakshi, was expecting their kid when MSD was leading India at the 2015 World Cup in Australia. When asked if he would want to take a leave to visit his daughter, Dhoni responded- "As of now I am on national duties so I think everything else can wait. The World Cup is a very important campaign."
The way he dealt with retirement questions

During Sri Lanka vs India series, in 2017, fans were frustrated with the performance of the home team and started throwing things onto the field, thus, disrupting play. MS remained unfazed by the incident and, instead, decided to use to opportunity to take a quick nap.
