FIFA World Cup: Players to watch out for in round-of-16
The group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup has come to an end, with top 16 teams qualifying for the knock-outs. The knock-outs start tonight, with Argentina locking horns with France. Some of the world's best players are in fray and this time they will look to set the field on fire. Here's the list of players to watch out for in round-of-16.
Cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal
With a superb hat-trick against Spain, Ronaldo set the tone of his campaign; he is in Russia to win. The Portuguese sensation then scored the lone goal against Morocco. He has been in a sensational form after donning the striker's role. Although he missed a penalty against Iran, Ronaldo is a confident man and in big games, he comes out with all guns blazing.
Lionel Messi - Argentina
Lionel Messi did not get off to a great start after missing a penalty in the 1-1 draw against Iceland. His body language looked poor in the hammering against Croatia. But the magician showed his class against Nigeria as the side finally managed a perfect pass to get him rolling. He is the biggest threat for France and will be closely monitored.
Harry Kane- England
The English striker was given a timely rest to be absolutely ready for the game against Colombia. Kane is the current Golden Boot leader with five goals in his bag. He is England's major hope in finding the right gaps and causing trouble for Colombia. The Tottenham Hotspur forward could make the difference for England and see his team through.
Paul Pogba - France
The Manchester United mid-fielder has given a good account of himself so far and has already scored one goal for the French side. He is key for his team's chances against Argentina and his composure on the field could help him open up gaps. Argentina mid-field is vulnerable and with N'Golo Kante providing support, Pogba would be enjoying a lot of freedom going front.
Eden Hazard - Belgium
Eden Hazard has already managed to score twice in this campaign. He suffered a calf problem, but he is now fit and will be raring to have a crack at a spirited Japanese side. Hazard is the creator of this Belgium side and he will be helped by Kevin De Bruyne. Hazard's combination with Romelu Lukaku upfront means Japan will face series of attacks.
Lukaku, Coutinho deserve a shout
One should not miss out on Lukaku. The Belgian striker has amassed four goals already and provides a lot of power and finesse upfront. Brazil's Philippe Coutinho has been in stellar form with two goals and could make the difference once again against Mexico.
