Australia vs England 4th ODI: Records broken
After losing the ODI series and going down 3-0, Australia have finally claimed a consolation victory in the 4th ODI at Adelaide. The men from down under won by 3 wickets after Travis Head scored a brilliant 96 to secure their first victory of the series. Here is the list of records that were broken in the mesmerising contest.
Woakes spares England's blushes
Despite resting Mitchell Starc, Australia came close to dismissing England for their lowest ever ODI-total, but all-rounder Chris Woakes's 78-run innings ensured England limped to 196, before being bowled out. In reply, Australia comfortably chased down the target riding on Head's 96 and claimed a 3-wicket victory with 78 balls to spare.
Australian pacers tear into England
Jason Roy, who posted 180 earlier in the series, was dismissed off the second ball of the innings. Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Jos Buttler soon followed him, all four were caught out for a duck. Alex Hales was the only one who managed to get off the mark but was soon bowled by Pat Cummins to leave England at 8/5.
It has been Australia's day
This is the fourth-time that Australian pacers have claimed all 10 wickets in an ODI against England. They have achieved the astonishing feat thrice in England, in 1975 and 1981 in Leeds and in 1977 in Birmingham. This is, however, the first time they have managed to dismiss all the English batsman on home soil.
Bad day at the office for England's top order
After today's match England have the second lowest score after losing 5 wickets in an ODI, while batting first, 8/5. The lowest was 7/5 by Canada who lost to the Netherlands in 2013. This is the third instance where three 50 plus run stands were made for the last 5 wickets in an ODI.
