NZ Women beat IND Women in third ODI: Records broken
The New Zealand women's cricket team overcame India in the third ODI on Friday to take a 3-0 lead in the five-match series. India's dismal tour of New Zealand ahead of the 2022 Women's World Cup continued. Besides losing the first two ODIs, India had also surrendered the one-off T20I as well. India Women managed 279/7 before the White Ferns sealed a three-wicket win.
How did the match pan out?
Indian openers Sabbhineni Meghana and Shafali Verma added 100 runs for the opening wicket. Meghana departed for a cracking 61 before Shafali followed suit with a 51-run effort. India couldn't capitalize on the start as they were reduced to 187/5. However, Deepti Sharma scored 69* to help India post 279/10. In response, NZ chased down the target with five balls to spare.
Feats achieved by Meghana, Shafali and Deepti
Meghana played an aggressive innings at the top for India Women. She slammed 61 from 41 deliveries, hitting nine fours and two sixes. This is her maiden ODI fifty. Meanwhile, Shafali hit her second ODI fifty, hammering 51 from 57 deliveries. Indian all-rounder Deepti hit seven fours and a six in her knock of 69*. It was her 11th fifty in ODI cricket.
Kerr and Satterthwaite slam these records
Amelia Kerr, who smashed a century in the previous encounter, played another superb innings. She hit 67 from 80 balls (8 fours). This was her third fifty in ODIs as she surpassed the 900-run mark as well (905). Amy Satterthwaite hit a composed 59-run knock. She registered her 26th fifty, besides racing to 4,420 runs. She hit her fourth fifty versus India (425 runs).
Lauren Down chips in for the White Ferns
Lauren Down played a match-winning knock of 64*. She consumed 52 deliveries, hitting six fours and two sixes. She registered her second ODI fifty, besides going past 300 runs in the format (317).
Goswami races to 245 ODI scalps
Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami claimed 3/47 against NZ Women. The veteran bowler has raced to 245 wickets at 25.47. She now has 46 wickets versus NZ Women at just 19.91. Ekta Bisht (1/62) has raced to 98 ODI scalps at 21.83.
