Sri Lanka cricket team pacer Asitha Fernando claimed figures worth 5/102 in the 2nd Test versus England at Lord's. Fernando was the pick of the bowlers for his side as England scored 427 in their 1st innings. Fernando, who took two wickets on Day 1, completed his fifer with three more scalps on Day 2. After taking six wickets in the first Test (4/103 and 2/25), Fernando claimed 5/102 from 24 overs in England's first innings. In 16 matches (25 innings), Fernando has raced to 56 wickets at 25.48. This was his 2nd fifer in Tests. As per ESPNcricinfo, in four matches versus England, Fernando owns 13 scalps at 23.46. 11 of his wickets have come in this series.
Fernando enters record books
As per Cricbuzz, Fernando has become just the 2nd Sri Lankan bowler to take a fifer at Lord's in Tests. He joined Rumesh Ratnayake, who took 5/69 in 1991. Overall, Fernando is the third Lankan pacer to take a fifer in Tests in England. He joins the likes of Ratnayake (1991) and Dhammika Prasad, who took 5/50 in Headingley, 2014.
