Commonwealth Games: Indian weightlifter Mirabai sets new record, bags gold
India's Mirabai Chanu bagged the gold medal in the women's 48kg weightlifting event. Her gold medal comes after P Gururaja had earlier clinched a silver in the men's 56kg category. Chanu lifted her personal best of 86kg in snatch which in turn is also the Games record. Here is the latest Commonwealth Games medal tally.
Chanu in a world of her own
The 23-year-old, from Manipur, reset the CWG record in snatch three times in a period of six minutes. There was no looking back for Chanu, who broke the Games record in each of her clean and jerk attempts. She lifted 103 kg, 107 kg and 110 kg respectively. Her combined total of 196 kg was also her personal best.

Chanu had won the silver medal in the 2014 Glasgow Games. She has also won the gold in 2017 World Championships. This year she was felicitated with the Padma Shri for her achievements in sport.
