21st Commonwealth Games: Manu Bhaker smashes records, wins gold
16-year-old teenage sensation Manu Bhaker made her Commonwealth Games debut memorable, by clinching the gold medal. Bhaker smashed records on Day 4 in the women's 10m Air Pistol event. She produced a scintillating performance to win the gold medal and ended up with a total of 240.9 points. This was India's 6th gold medal at Commonwealth Games.
Heena Sidhu bags silver
With Bhaker winning the gold, fellow Indian women's shooter Heena Sidhu bagged the silver medal. A total of 234 points helped Sidhu clinch the 2nd position. Meanwhile, Australia's Elena Galiabovitch won the bronze medal with 214.9 points. Heena started off unconvincingly, but her 15th and 16th shots followed by 21st and 22nd helped her stay afloat and seal the silver medal.
Shooter Ravi Kumar bags bronze in men's event
India's Ravi Kumar bagged a bronze medal in men's 10m Air Rifle event. He fired a total of 224.1 to successfully clinch the third position and get India another medal in shooting. Aussie Dane Sampson Dane claimed the gold medal with an effort of 245.
