Oscar Piastri has won the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix to hand McLaren a massive win in Baku. Notably, Lando Norris drove superbly to go past 2024 Formula 1 championship title leader and rival Max Verstappen (5th). The race in Baku ended under a virtual safety car after a crash between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz, who collided with two laps to go. Here's more.

McLaren topple Red Bull to go top of Constructor Standings
McLaren's first and fourth place finishes at the 2024 Azerbaijan GP have taken them to top of the Constructor Standings. McLaren owns 476 points, going ahead of Red Bull Racing (456). Verstappen's 5th position and Perez being forced to retire, dampened Red Bull's mood. Meanwhile, Scuderia Ferrari with 425 points are closing in on Red Bull. Mercedes are fourth with 309 points.
Verstappen leads the Driver Standings
With 313 points, Verstappen leads the F1 2024 Driver Standings. Norris is next, having collected 254 points. He is ahead of 3rd-placed Charles Leclerc, who owns 235 points. Piastri, who finished 1st, follows suit with 222 points. Carlos Sainz is next with 184 points.
7th race without a win for Verstappen
Red Bull Racing's Verstappen finished fifth and is yet to win a race since the 2024 Spanish GP. That's seven races without a win for the Dutchman. He has clocked two podium finishes in these seven races.
Piastri notches his 6th podium finish this season
Piastri notched his 6th podium finish this season and eight overall. He owns two race wins with both of them coming this year (also Hungarian GP). Leclerc finished second after having won the 2024 Italian GP. He clinched his 39th podium finish, including 9 this season. Leclerc also owns two race wins this season. Meanwhile, George Russell collected his 3rd podium finish this season.
Norris goes past Verstappen with three laps to go
Piastri went past Leclerc, who had led from pole position. Both had made their only pit stop for fresh tyres and held on for the rest of the race. Meanwhile, Norris fought back after his late pit stop. He started on the hard tyre and went on to pass Verstappen with three laps to go. He took fourth, being helped by the Perez-Sainz clash.
