    What's the story

The ICC World Cup 2019 is just 10 days away and teams would be looking to dominate the proceedings from the word go.

The World Cup is known for the records scripted by teams and individuals.

In the first 11 editions, there have been several mind boggling records being registered by teams and this year we might witness some of these records being broken.

    Innings total

Highest innings total in World Cup could be surpassed

England and Pakistan scored massively in the recently concluded ODI series.

And batting could be the flavour during the World Cup in England and Wales.

The highest team total registered in the World Cup is 417/6 against Afghanistan in 2015.

The manner in which teams are batting these days, one expects this total to be surpassed.

England in particular will fancy their chances.

    Malinga

Malinga could script this fascinating record

Lasith Malinga has been an inspiration for Sri Lanka.

The veteran speedster has 43 wickets in the World Cup.

He needs seven more to surpass former Lankan great Chaminda Vaas (49) and be the island nation's second highest wicket-taker in the World Cup.

Malinga can also become only the fourth bowler and the third Asian in history to get past 50 World Cup scalps.

    Batting power

Gayle and Guptill could break these records

'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle has 944 ICC World Cup runs under his belt.

He needs 56 more to become only the third West Indian cricketer to surpass 1,000 runs.

Gayle can also get past Shivnarine Chanderpaul in terms of runs scored (970).

Martin Guptill needs 191 runs to be the only second New Zealand player to register 1,000-plus runs in the World Cup.

    Feats

Bowlers can get past McGrath's tally, Aussies can excel

In the 2015 World Cup, Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult took 22 wickets each.

The best tally is 26 by Glenn McGrath in 2007.

There are several world class bowlers in fray and one can expect someone to go all the way given the nature and format of this year's tournament.

Meanwhile, defending champions Australia can win a record sixth World Cup.
