Miami Open: Venus Williams progresses to the quarter-finals
37-year-old Venus Williams progressed into the quarter-finals of the 2018 Miami Open after a three-set duel against Britain's world number 14 Johanna Konta. The veteran US star lost the first set, but came back to seal victory 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. The 7-time singles Grand Slam champion will face Danielle Collins in the last eight, who overcame Monica Puig 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Azarenka downs Radwanska, Kvitova exits
Former world number 1 Victoria Azarenka produced dominant tennis show from start to finish, as she defeated Agnieszka Radwanska. Azarenka won the tie 6-2, 6-2 and will be up against fifth seed Karolina Pliskova next. Petra Kvitova suffered an exit in the hands of 20-year-old youngster and sixth seed Jelena Ostapenko in a 6-7, 3-6 tie.
Kerber and Stephens to battle it out
Former world number 1 Angelique Kerber will be up against 2018 US Open winner Sloane Stephens in a cracking quarter-finals encounter on Tuesday at 10:30 PM. Stephens is in red-hot form after brushing away Garbine Muguruza. Kerber was made to work hard in the pre-quarters.
Kyrgios sets up Zverev date in men's pre-quarters
Despite claiming that he is short of match fitness, Australian Nick Kyrgios moved into the round of 16 in the men's singles event. Kyrgios, who has made a return post a painful elbow injury, defeated Italian world number 18 Fabio Fognini 6-3, 6-3. He will next face fourth seed Alexander Zverev, who beat Spanish veteran David Ferrer 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
