Miami Open: Isner wins his first Masters 1000 title
American John Isner won his first Masters 1000 title in a thrilling contest against Germany's Alexander Zverev. Isner sealed the match in 3 sets 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 against the fourth seed. The 32-year-old served 18 aces to mark a memorable victory in front of the home fans. With this win, Isner will now move back into the top 10 of the men's ATP rankings.
A special tournament for Isner
Isner came into 2018 Miami Open with a 1-6 win record and the player himself acknowledged how poorly he was playing. Post his win, Isner said in disbelief that he could not have scripted this, given how he was playing. Beating Juan Martin del Potro in semi-final and now Zverev in the final, were the major highlights of Isner's Miami Open title victory.
