Argentina beat Colombia in 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers
After losing to Brazil in the previous match, Argentina bounced back with captain Lionel Messi scoring a goal in a 3-2 win against Colombia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Messi's free kick in the 10th minute gave the hosts a 1-0 lead. Lucas Pratto scored a header in the 23rd minute while Angel Di Maria scored the third in 83rd minute.
10 CONMEBOL teams to meet each other in qualifiers
10 CONMEBOL teams will be up against each other for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for South America. Two biggies Argentina and Brazil, will be up against Colombia and Peru respectively.
Ecuador eased to victory against Venezuela
After a goal-less first half, hosts Ecuador went past Venezuela's goal keeper thrice to win the match 3-0. Arturo Mina Meza, Miller Bolanos and Enner Valencia each scored a goal in 51st, 82nd and 86th minute respectively.
Brazil registered a 2-0 win over Peru
Brazil continued their winning streak at the CONMEBOL and defeated Peru 2-0 at the Estadio Nacional de Lima. With Gabriel Jesus scoring the first goal in the second half, and Renato Augusto scoring the next, Brazil are on the top of the South American qualifying group. Peru, which did not beat Brazil in the last 10 qualifiers troubled the visitors in the first half.
10-men Bolivia defeated Paraguay 1-0
Gustavo Gomez's own goal in the 78th minute helped Bolivia win 1-0 against Paraguay at the Hernando SilesLa Paz. The hosts were down to 10-men after Juan Gabriel Valverde was sent off the field after being shown the second yellow card.
Sanchez scored twice as Chile beat Uruguay 3-1
Chile fought back against Uruguay after trailing 0-1 to defeat the visitors 3-1 at Santiago. After a 16th minute goal by Edinson Cavani, Chile scored the equalizer in extra time at the end of first half. Alexis Sanchez then scored two consecutive goals in the 60th and 76th minute to increase the lead and ultimately win the match for Chile.
Brazil top the points table
With the 2016 CONMEBOL matches over, Brazil has topped the points table with 27 points. Uruguay are on the second spot followed by Ecuador and Chile. Argentina are struggling at the fifth spot. The next matches will be held in March 2017.
