Spain crush Liechtenstein 8-0 in FIFA World Cup qualifiers
Spain started their 2018 World Cup qualification campaign in a fantastic way as they beat Liechtenstein 8-0 in the opening game of UEFA Group G. David Silva, Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata scored two goals each to help their country win. It was the first game for Spain under new coach Julen Lopetegui, who joined the team after the Euro 2016.
2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers for European nations
The UEFA qualifiers for 2018's FIFA World Cup is a tournament to decide which European teams would be a part of the world cup. A total of 14 spots are available for the European teams. Being the host nation, Russia has already qualified, leaving 13 spots available. 54 teams are participating in the qualifiers which are scheduled to go on till 14 November 2017.
Wales, Austria win their respective matches
Gareth Bale scored twice as Wales beat Moldova 4-0 in their opening 2018 World Cup qualifier match. Wales's account was opened by Sam Vokes and Joe Allen, scoring a goal each in the 38th and 44th minute respectively. In the same group, Austria beat Georgia 2-1. The match between Serbia and Republic of Ireland ended in a 2-2 draw.
10-man Italy outclasses Israel
In another Group G match, Italy defeated Israel 3-1. Italy was left with only 10 men after the 55th minute, but Israel could not stop Ciro Immobile from scoring the winning goal for his country in the 83rd minute.
All matches in Group I end in a draw
All three matches in Group I ended up in a 1-1 draw, with all the teams getting a point each. It was an empty stadium for the Croatia-Turkey bout, as Turkey defeated Croatia. In their first ever competitive match, Kosovo held Finland to a draw. A penalty miss by Yevhen Konoplyanka of Ukraine against Iceland led to the match ending in a draw.
