PBL: PV Sindhu takes Chennai Smashers to semi-finals
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu defeated Sung Ji Hyun 11-8, 12-10 to take Chennai Smashers in the semi-finals of 2017 Vodafone Premier Badminton League. Chennai ended Mumbai Rockets' winning streak at the tournament to win the tie 4-3. The Smashers have now moved to the third spot of the points table and will face Awadhe Warriors in their next tie today.
HS Prannoy starts Mumbai Rockets' campaign with a win
Mumbai Rockets began their tie against Chennai Smashers with a win as HS Prannoy defeated Parupalli Kashyan 11-9, 13-11. Mumbai took a lead of 1-0 after the match.
Addock couple gives a trump win to the Smashers
Chris and Gabrielle Addock continued to remain unbeaten at the 2017 Premier Badminton League as they won against Chirag Shetty and Nadiezda Zieba of Mumbai Rockets. The Addock couple won the Trump match 9-11, 11-2, 11-7 to give a 2-1 lead to the Chennai Smashers. It was not a tough fight for the Chennai Smashers even after losing the first game.
Tommy Sugiarto extends Smashers' lead after defeating Ajay Jayaram
Chennai Smashers won another match in the tie against Mumbai Rockets to extend their lead. Tommy Sugiarto defeated Ajay Jayaram 11-8, 2-11, 5-11 in the second men's singles match of the day. Chennai got a point from the match and extended their lead against Mumbai to 3-1, while Sugiarto maintained his unbeaten streak against Ajay Jayaram.
