Manchester United defeat Southampton to win the EFL Cup
A late goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic helped Manchester United defeat Southampton 3-2 to lift the EFL Cup at Wembly Stadium on Sunday. Zlatan scored the opening goal of the match in the 19th minute; Jesse Lingard doubled their lead. Manolo Gabbiadini scored two goals in each half to equal the scores, but an 87th minute goal from Ibrahimovic sealed the game for ManU.
The League Cup
The League Cup is an annual football tournament for the domestic English football clubs. It was first held in the year 1960-61 as the Football League Cup. The inaugural competition was won by Aston Villa. The League Cup is considered as one of the top three football competitions in England, alongside the FA Cup and the Premier League.

From the current season, the tournament was renamed the EFL Cup. The Premier League clubs entered the tournament in the third round, while the clubs from League One and Two started the competition in the first.
